Working to “Repair
the World”

Jewish tradition teaches that each of us has a responsibility to “repair the world.” The behavior and actions of the Foundation will support that tradition.

Providing Equal
Opportunity for All

The Foundation is committed to working to provide equal opportunity for all people in our community. Its role will be to support efforts that help individuals grow, prosper, and live in a peaceful and healthy community.

Making a Meaningful Impact

In all its giving, the Foundation will focus on achieving results and making a measurable impact.

History of the Foundation

Arnie and Alison Richman learned the importance of philanthropy at an early age from their parents and grandparents, who cultivated a culture of giving. Growing up in middle-class surroundings, each learned as a child that giving what one could, even a small amount, was important and could make a difference.

In 1969, these former high school sweethearts married and started their family and their careers. Arnie spent 25 years as a partner of Meridian Healthcare, a privately held company that developed and managed skilled nursing facilities. He later joined The Shelter Group/Brightview Senior Living in 1995, where he led the effort to create Brightview Senior Living. Alison became an adoption social worker at Jewish Community Services, where she served families and children for many years.

Together, Alison and Arnie raised three daughters and now enjoy seeing their grandsons grow. They have pursued many charitable endeavors over the years, serving as volunteers on Boards and in other capacities and generously giving to charitable organizations through a supporting foundation at The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore.

In 2022, Arnie and Alison established The Richman Foundation in the hope that their family’s philanthropy would continue to benefit their beloved Baltimore community and the broader community for many years to come.
